Database Development solutions for Deutsche Gesellshaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)
GIZ implements the “Sustainable Cocoa Business” project that is co-founded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF). The project is part of an on-going Cocoa Livelihoods Program aimed at providing support and capacity development services to approximately 200,000 households and cocoa small holdings in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Liberia.
ECS was contracted in October 2010 to program the database of the Farmer Business School aspect of the project into a Dashboard that indicates key performance indicators (KPIs). The Farmer Business School Dashboard has been in use since October 2010 and in February 2017 ECS was contracted again to modify the Farmer Business School Dashboard to incorporate data from Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) training under GIZ’s new Sustainable Smallholder Agri-Business Program (SSAB) aimed at helping 400,000 West and Central African smallholders mainly in cocoa production zones of Nigeria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo to increase sustainably their income and food supply from diversified production. The GIZ SSAB Dashboard for GAP training is programed to carry out synthesis and generate performance-based reports on partner Community Extension Agents (CEAs) as well as the general overview of trainings conducted by incorporating training data from 5 countries, Nigeria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo Data.
